This cocktail table can be used with many modern furnishings, depending on your wood and finish choices. The raised panels on the rails and side stretchers give a rich play of light and shadow.

If you're a beginner, try using flat side panels for a more conservative appeal. Also, try traditional tapered legs instead of the turned more ornate ones. The edge banding along the tabletop gives you the opportunity to test your skill at veneering if a solid top is not desired.
